SHOP LOCAL

Sustainability is the new normal objective for all of us, and the same holds true for the community in which we live. Retail sles mean much more than sales tax dollars. It also means jobs, services, clean streets, good restaurants, thriving art studios and museums.

Our 'Shop Local' campaign is fairly simple - when making retail purchases, think locally first!

Think Palm Springs! Give the merchants that are close by, in easy driving or walking distance of your home, the first shot at providing you with what it is you need. The VPS poster boards 'Shop Local' will be posted in participating businesses' windows and will be a reminder to shoppers - think local, shop local, shop Palm Springs!

VISITOR FRIENDSHIP PROGRAM

This unique program is intended to create and nurture partnerships with local residents, our 'seasonal' visitors (snowbirds) and weekenders. This will be accomplished by introducing them to the many activities, events and volunteer opportunities in/around Palm Springs taking place during their stay in which they may want to participate and lend their time. With our monthly meet-and-greet, we hope to educate all on the many opportunities and to feel a part of our community.

The second phase of Visitor Friendship Program is to establisha network and reciprocal relationship with friendship cities like Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton, Canada; Seattle, Portland and Minneapolis. With the expansion into our 'Visitor Friendship Cities', we can build a strong relationship with will promote reciprocal tourism for our 'Friendship Cities' and the city of Palm Springs by promoting local activities and events, while highlighting 'voluntourism' opportunities occurring during their visit.

The VPS volunteer opportunities will vary and change by programs and postings. Please refer to our programs page for volunteer opportunities.

WINDOWS & ART

This program is designed to promote Palm Springs. Empty storefront windows create a great opportunity to showcase and highlight artists' artwork, promote upcoming events or historical displays of architecture and Hollywood's connection with Palm Springs.

Working with business property owners to allow VPS to install these displays will give our Downtown and Uptown districts an opportunity to welcome our visitors with information, while beautifying our community.

WARM WELCOME COMMITTEE

This unique program will offer volunteers the opportunity to promote Palm Sprigs, its businesses, attractions, activities and events with those requesting information and/or assistance. Essentially, our Warm Welcome Volunteers (WWV) will be mobile concierges!

Our Warm Welcome Vounteers will be assigned distinct destinations such as the Airport, Downtown, Uptown, Art Museum, etc. and will be identified by their VPS-logo apparel. In addition, all WWV will receive training on dealing with the public, Palm Springs businesses, attractions and events.

Our volunteers will be easily identifiable, friendly and knowledgeable making the 'Palm Springs experience' a memorable and enjoyable one.

MOD/MAP PS DIRECTORY

This directory will be a simple, yet effective map and listing highlighting the Fashion, Art, History of the Design District along Palm Canyon. The initial map and listings will be distributed at selected retail locations throughout Modernism Week activities, and at selected conferences and meetings at the Convention Center.
